M.Tech Admission Procedure

Nowadays, most of the students wish to do their most desirable M. Tech post graduation after completing their B. Tech course or after completing their MBA, MCA or M. Sc courses. This is because of great demand for M. Tech graduates in the job market.

In India, different colleges and universities offer M. Tech course and some universities and colleges admit the students on the basis of the marks secured by the students in the entrance examination called GATE. Students who want to take admission in the M. Tech course has to attend the Graduation Amplitude Test Examination (GATE), which is conducted on a yearly basis after successful completion of their B.Tech graduation. The students are given admission to different engineering colleges in India on the basis of the marks obtained by them in the GATE exam. The selected students will also be required to attend personal interview and viva-voce in the respective colleges or universities. In this process of admission, a certain percentage of seats are reserved for students of Schedule Caste, Schedule Tribe and other backward caste students as per government norms. In addition to this certain seats are also reserved for students with defense background and handicapped students as well.

Some colleges provide direct admission to the students without any entrance exam, just on the basis of the marks secured by the students in their degree course like B. Tech. But, the admission to the private colleges requires the students to get admitted through management quota.

Some colleges even admit students of both GATE and non-GATE category, (i.e.) when sufficient number of GATE category candidates are not available in the particular academic year, the colleges admit non-GATE category candidates on the basis of the marks secured by the students in the B. Tech degree course. Here, the students should have a minimum aggregate of 55% marks in the under graduation course to get admitted to this M. Tech degree course.

All the best for getting admission to your dream M. Tech course!!!
